Any irritability can be driven by an area that is not actually causing the pain. Identifying the trigger point is vital. Assessment of these imbalances injures and dysfunction guides treatment. Manual therapy is a method of skilled manipulation and mobilization of joints and soft tissue such that treatment can be effectively activated. The objective is to improve tissue extensibility, increase range of motion, induce relaxation, modulate pain, change muscle function and improve movement patterns that optimize and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, pain or restriction. This is done in combination with specific exercises and education. Manual therapy is important to maintain the gains made with treatment.
I have over 13 years of experience. I am FCAMPT-Certified with advanced orthopaedic knowledge, techniques and clinical reasoning. I assess how neurophysiology controls joint and muscle function and movement. I have a comprehensive approach that contextualizes not only your injury, but looks to understand the root of the problem, what drives it and how social and environmental factors can impact/influence your pain.
Services and techniques may include:
- Mobilization or manipulation.
- Passive range of motion.
- Manual traction.
- Myofascial release techniques.
- Muscle energy techniques.
- Manual lymphatic drainage, or massage.
- Movement re-training .
