In BC, you do not need a doctor’s referral to receive physiotherapy treatment. Some private insurance providers may require a doctor’s referral to facilitate your reimbursement, so please check your policy before your first appointment.
Physiotherapy treatments are not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan, however, if you have an extended health benefits plan, it may fully or partially reimburse your fee – please check your policy for details.
Clients who receive MSP Premium Assistance will receive a discounted rate on their services. You may be eligible for further partial reimbursement from MSP provided you have not used up your 10 paramedical allotments for the calendar year. Please see our Rates page for more information.
We do not do direct billing to insurance companies; all fees are paid by clients at the time of their treatment to BoDyanmics PT. We will give you a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement in accordance with your plan.
BoDynamics PT is a private pay clinic, and as such, all treatment and report fees related to an ICBC claim are billed to you, the client. You will be responsible for paying all fees to Bodynamics PT at the time of your treatment and we will give you a detailed receipt that you can submit to ICBC for possible reimbursement. Please advise your claims specialist that you will be receiving treatment in a clinic that does not bill the fees to them directly.
If you have an active claim with WorkSafeBC you must seek treatment from a physiotherapy clinic that has a contract with them. While we are happy to offer you treatment, Bodynamics PT does not have a contract with WorkSafeBC.
For your first appointment: please arrive 10 minutes early so that we can set up your new patient file. If you filled out your patient intake forms at home, please remember to bring them with you. If you need to fill out the patient intake forms in our office, please allow an additional 5 minutes.
Please also bring your BC Services Card/CareCard and any relevant information with you (i.e. doctor’s referral, MRI or x-ray reports).
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your affected body parts. For example, track pants or shorts for injuries in the lower half of your body.
If your injury is related to your feet, please bring any custom orthotics and/or footwear that may be contributing to the symptoms.
During your initial visit, we will ask you questions about the history of your condition and the history of your illnesses, injuries, and surgeries in general, to get a sense of all of the factors that may have contributed to your problem over time.
We will assess your current condition, perform a physical examination, provide a physical diagnosis, outline a treatment protocol, and perform the first treatment.
We encourage you to ask questions so that you understand how your treatment will help you, and so that you can be an active participant in your own recovery.
The length of your treatment depends upon your needs and, in consultation, you will be booked for a 30, 45 or 60-minute appointment. During your appointment you can expect one-on-one evaluation, education and treatment.
It varies from patient to patient, depending on the scope and severity of your condition. Your progress will depend on a number of factors that we will will discuss with you. After your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will create a personalized treatment plan for you. They will update you at each appointment so that you know where you are in your treatment plan.
